trutap

Hey guys,
I have a sony ericsson W580i phone, and i downloaded trutap for my phone.
While all other features work like a charm, the sms feature does not.
I have already verified the email and my number.
Wenever i send a message, it says message sent, but the message never reaches the recipient. I even tried sending a msg to my own number. It just does not work. Any ideas?

Hi, the sms feature is not yet enabled, it's something we are working on (by the way, check out the beta notes of the help section for information like this). In the meantime you could use trutap's own messaging service to communicate with friends, you can send messages up to 1,000 characters and attach photos - better than sms! Standard data charges apply for this.

Am I right that you can only send an SMS to a Trutap contact? When I try and send an SMS to an ordinary contact with their mobile number it says 'you can only send an SMS to a Trutap contact or a group of contacts therefore your message cannot be sent.' That's a real disappointment as I installed Trutap primarily for the free SMS feature.

Hi formidable, you can send trutap messages to friends on trutap (go to messaging to do this), but currently you can't send an sms message out to someone who is not a member of trutap. You can however send an email out to anyone you wish.

Hi Markb, do you have any idea when the sms service will be up and running? When it is will sending sms' be free? (except for data costs of course)

Hi marcusdav, the new version of Trutap is coming very soon, and this will enable you to send an sms ‘out’ to someone who is not a tt friend. The sending of these sms will be handled by your native phone sms and corresponding phone contract, so they’ll be included in any bundles you have and will not incur any online data costs.

Trutap’s own messaging will still be available of course for sending messages to your tt contacts, including photo messages and long messages up to 1,000 characters.
