One feature I miss dearly is the ability to change Nicknames or at least check what the real identity behind the nickname is (for example, MSN email address). If you have two people with the same Nickname on your contact list, it's impossible to tell who is who...
Also, would it be possible to add Jabber support?
trutap has the best GUI ever, but unfortunately other has better feature. eBuddy can make confrence, nimbuzz & mig33 has chatrooms, shmessenger can send files & snapshot from camera, can change the display image of YM, has complete emoticons, archiving chats, change the status to available, busy, step out, etc even to custom status, and it doesn't have to chenge screen whwn you type the message so you still can read what your friends wrote and answer them in the same screen.
Hi ankbadar,
thanks for the comments about our UI, we like it too!
There are features that other solely IM clients offer, like those you've listed. We're not just an IM client so we're working round the clock to make trutap awesome across the board, for blogging and messaging and IM. But, over the next couple of months we're updating our product and bringing in more IM's (see post to jnievele) and more features..... so out of the list you mentioned what do you like most and why?
Honestly, when i say the best... the best it is. no else compare to your work. keep it up.
well, i guess because i'm a yahoo user who very attached to my friends (which are yahoo user too) by IM, i really wish you guys will working on trutap to be fully support Yahoo messenger features :).
i'd like to use the blog feature (i have a blog on friendster)too, but unfortunately i don't know the setting. when i tried guessing the setting, it don't work (wrong guess lol). so maybe you should provide info on how to set trutap to update a blog on some sites that easily accessed.
my apology, i'm hardly improving my english.
Hi ankbadar,
To post to your blog on friendster, first of all you need to know the url of your blog. You can find this out by going to 'Edit account' on friendster, and choosing the 'Blogs 'tab, where you will find your blog listed and its url. It will be in this format:
http://yourblogname.blogs.friendster.com
Once you've checked that, go to My Web on trutap and choose 'Set up account' from the left menu, and on the next screen choose Friendster from the list. Enter your blog url in the field named 'URL', then the email and password you use to access friendster in the fields named 'Username' and 'Password' respectively, and save the details. Then you're all set to make a post, just click the newly created account details, enter your subject and post text, and hit 'Send post' on the left menu. Your entry will be sent from trutap to your blog, where you will be able to see it at the blog url as above.
Hope that helps, let us know if you have any problems!
I've logged in to my MSN & Yahoo buddies but it seems there are no Yahoo contacts showing. I know some of them are online so am not sure about the connection. I prefer to use Fring anyway for IM chatting on my mobile - connects averytime and it's much better than Trutap and also works on the iPhone. You can also see your offline contacts and those on standby etc.
I most also agree that the GUI is just GREAT and EASY to navigate. I like the fact that all of the functions (IM, Contacts, Web, etc) are separated into different screens and that all is not just in ONE window with a BIG-LONG MENU to navigate. And because of its well organized GUI, I find myself connecting and using more trutap than the other IM programs I have installed on my SE K800i.
@eyeyousee, formidible and gargoyle
thanks for your comments about trutap, we love the feedback and take all your suggestions on board. With regard to the connection issues in IM and the desire to see offline contacts, you'll see developments over the next few months as we add more functionality and bring out a 'new trutap'. Thanks for using us!
Hi everyone, we've just added Facebook Chat, Google Talk, Rediff Bol and Jabber instant messaging to Trutap! For more details and to discuss the new features go to this post here: http://trutap.com/forums/topic/781?replies=1
