JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for the development of the core messaging infrastructure, working closely with the Product, Design and Operations teams.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Demonstrable experience of working with and developing large-scale, high availability distributed systems.
• Ability to work with complex data models from conception through to database schema definition and implementation.
• Strong skills using OO Perl, Linux, Subversion, and experience with Web Services (REST, SOAP, XML-RPC).
• Required extensive experience with one of MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, Sybase or any major DB server
• Knowledge of Apache and mod_perl, including tuning and best-practices.
• Must be capable of providing technical support and consultation to the business as well as external 3rd parties.
• Must be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of business metrics and statistics gathering and processing.
• Interest in test-driven development, team development best-practices, good communication skills a requirement.
• Experience with POE and memcached preferred but not essential.
• Additional languages (other than English) a bonus.
