After ten years in the UK, our stats man Clifty realised he was in serious of danger of turning into a 'pom'. Something clearly had to be done about that, so he's leaving us this month to get married and head back to the safety of Australia and the company of decent cricketers. All the best Clifty!
Doug will be a speaker on the Mobile Social Media panel at the Mobile 2.0 Europe conference in Barcelona on 4th July. If you're attending and would like to meet up, just let us know.
OK so I am showing my age remembering a Supertramp song :-) If you are in Singapore for CommunicAsia then why not join us the for exclusive UKTI Breakfast on Thursday morning at the Grand Mercure Roxy Hotel. Carl and I will be in town from Sunday evening (Singapore time) and always have time for more meetings or just beer - get in touch if you need an invite.
Congratulations to Vinny and Kate Hayes on the arrival of their new daughter. If you were looking for news of the next version of trutap, then you will have to wait a little longer!
Our CTO Carl is at the Microsoft Mobility Startup Day at the Silicon Valley Campus, Mountain View on Thursday 29th May, and is speaking at the SPIF service provider forum in Foster City on Friday. Carl's staying in San Francisco and is in town until Tuesday so do get in touch if you want to meet up.
Our Sysadmin Jon Topper, and our occasional hired gun Mike Griffiths (aka Mike Sql) of Proven Scaling will be presenting tonight at the London MySQL Meetup, reporting back on their findings from the 2008 MySQL Conference & Expo in Santa Clara earlier this month. Sign up via meetup.com if you want to come along and hear all about it.
Congratulations from all of us to Carl and Kirsty, who got married on Friday! Have a fantastic honeymoon!
We’ve had four new starters at trutap this month, so thought it was about time we introduced them…
Tom Grace joins the operations team, bringing bags of server support experience from stints at ESP, Bleckfield and Citigroup. In his spare time Tom dons a superhero outfit and leads a one-man crusade against phishers. Also in ops, Rayyan Sameer joins us from the mobile gaming world to take up a role as our new QA technician. Rayyan’s a veteran of mobile and tech community events such as Momo London and First Tuesday, but if there’s no event on he’s likely to be travelling, reading or honing his skills flying FS-X.
Over in the product team, Rob Fallon is our shiny new product manager. Rob previously spent several years in a variety of creative, content and marketing roles for iTouch, made4mobile and Mobestar, while being bitten by dogs eight times. Should a wild canine ever run loose in the office, we’re confident he’ll take one for the team.
And last but not least Paul Mooney has been an engineer for 14 years, creating software that has helped decode genomes and build nuclear power plants. In case you haven’t guessed it, he’s joined the engineering team. Paul likes eating chillies, and growing chillies to replace the ones he’s just eaten. Paul also looks after the Grendon village web site - the local wiki for local people.
